Two Hundred and Eighty-Three

Wednesday, March 23

Trail mix.

Just a simple mix that I threw together, which has now become a staple in this house. Salted roasted peanuts, dried cranberries and dark chocolate chips. Have also substituted cashews.

Chocolate chip blondies.

Thank you, simplyrecipes.com for yet another gem. These can be thrown together in the time it takes my oven to preheat, which makes them slightly dangerous...but I figure, brown sugar and chocolate chips are better for you than white sugar and brownies, right? No? They're both good for you? Oh, okay.

Chocolate chip cookies.

I'm considering changing the name of this blog to Jon Save Cuisine. The man is an artist and these were some of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had.

Jonathan, you...complete.....my blog.

One Hundred and Forty-One

Monday, November 1

Mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Sam decided we needed to make this, so make it we did. It was a great idea, and would have been a success if I'd bought peppermint extract instead of mint extract...because apparently peppermint doesn't taste like toothpaste. Some people enjoyed it, but according to overdramatic sources, Mike almost threw up. I put mine in a blender with a banana, chocolate syrup, milk and ice. And that was delicious. Knowing what we know now, I think we could make this again and not have any complaints.

And yes, it's pink. Because we could.

Banana cookies.

First time I've ever made these, and they are now easily one of my favorite kinds of cookies. The recipe called for 1 cup of pecans, but I opted instead for 1/2 cup of walnuts and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. I didn't regret it.

They have a banana bread consistency and they pack plenty of flavor. Moist, chewy, almost cake-like. So good.

Chocolate chip muffin.

I've been in a major baking phase lately, so these happened. There were complaints of "too many chocolate chips," but I feel that is ludicrous. The batter is really only there to hold them all together.
