Cup Noodles.

Perfection cannot be improved.

Eggs marinara.

YUM. Fried egg, seasoned with salt and pepper, on top of a bed of baby lettuce mix, covered in Italian-style tomato sauce (including basil, oregano, garlic salt, freshly cracked black pepper). Crunchy bread provides a perfectly contrasting texture.

I was sad when my plate was empty...

Breaded chicken and rigatoni.

This was a wonderful dinner provided by Mrs Newsom, Alysia and Jessica. Jess made a creamy sauce for the pasta, and threw in sundried tomatoes, roasted bell peppers and capers. Top it all off with some Frank's Red Hot and you're good to go.

Twelve

Coffee granita with whipped cream.

This is a great dessert to follow a hearty meal, it's very light and refreshing with a strong coffee flavor. The granita mixture includes lemon zest (orange is also delicious) and Kahlua. The whipping cream is lightly sweetened and honored with a splash of Mrs Abler's wonderful homemade Limoncello.

Hot dog.

Went to the Gillesses' (house, Jessica) for a barbecued feast before going bowling. Mr Gilless knows his way around a grill (and how to use one, too)...so thanks for this! And happy birthday!

Also, my first honorable mention: Jessica Abler, for this accidental some-type-of-Greek masterpiece. Abler states, "I was just squirting ketchup on my hamburger and this happened!" I like to think that's also how actual Greek was invented.

Ten

Tropical smoothie.

Pineapple, mango, banana, yogurt and orange juice. Thick and fruity, much like Nathan Lane.

Beef enchilada casserole with guacamole.

Ground beef, crushed tortilla chips, enchilada sauce, plenty of cheddar cheese; topped with tomatoes, green onions, cilantro, sour cream, and accompanied by some homemade guacamole. One of my favorite dishes; usually we use chicken, but this was really good, too.

Eight

Pumpkin nut waffle with applesauce.

Leftovers from Fathers Day brunch! Really delicious. Chopped nuts in the waffle batter, while a bit unconventional, provide great contrasting texture. And applesauce is just amazing.

Seven

Avocado ice cream.

Even I thought this would be at least somewhat gross on some level, but it ended up being completely delicious. Lime juice and tequila provide the main flavors. Refreshing and wonderful.

I approve this dessert.

"Fully-loaded" pizza.

Girls' night at Aubree's, board games, card games, and homemade pizza. This masterpiece included artichokes, black olives, ground beef, tomato & basil sausage, mozzarella cheese...and was basically fantastic. I don't care what Sarah Jessica Parker says...girls just want to have pizza. Thanks, Aub!!

Five

Chicken curry with rice.

"Dhanyavad" to Moms for this fantastic Indian dish. Coconut milk, tomatoes, potatoes, perfect blend of spices; served over Jasmine brown rice, topped with cilantro...really wonderful.

Four

Chili cheese fries.

Sliced some potatoes, tossed them with olive oil, salt & pepper, baked at 350 for 25 minutes. Topped with chicken chili (again) and aged white cheddar. I would have preferred sharp cheddar, but alas, we are clean out. Regardless, this was amazing.

Mom, if I forget to tell you in person, we need sharp cheddar.

Best,
Lindsay

Chili cheese 'burger'....?

Chicken chili, pepper jack cheese, sliced hot dog, enchilada sauce, fresh spinach, hamburger bun. If you've got a better name for it, by all means, let me know.

This is really delicious. And yes, if you were wondering, it will explode in your microwave. And yes, Mom, I cleaned it up.

Two

Chocolate gelato with Almond Roca chunks.

It's been really hot today so gelato seemed like a good idea (it was). Italian is 2 for 2 now, Mrs Stepp....

One

Ground turkey, tomato and spinach lasagna.

Dinner for breakfast at lunchtime - looks like I covered all my bases. This was pretty delicious, even if I say it myself. And it's just as good as leftovers as it was new, which isn't something you can say about a lot of food...like Cheerios.

The Beginning

You might be familiar with the term "365 project," a commitment to create something new every day for a year, whether it be a photo, sketch, etc. I was recently inspired by a friend to find my creative side and begin my own 365 project (check his out here). I'm going to use this blog for just that. Every day for a year, I'll post a photo of something I ate - most likely photographed prior to being eaten - that day. Some days it'll be something I made, other days not. I may love it, I may hate it, I may be induced to nausea by it...I'll be sure to let you know along the way.

My goal in all this is not only to provide some entertainment for whoever can relate to food in some way (supportive, on and off, trying to quit, etc.), but also to explore and improve photography skills and food arrangement.

So here we go.
