Monday, September 13

Beef & broccoli.

I saw a commercial for that fancy dog food and decided Chinese sounded good. So I made beef & broccoli, served with rice.

Sunday, September 12

French toast.

We Andersons like our French toast, so we have our share of expert French toast makers in this house. This batch was offered up by Dad.

Accompanied by butter and maple syrup.

Fruit tart 2.0

In honor of Gina Lombardo, this was my second attempt at a fruit tart. I have to say, it was pretty tasty.

Same components as last time, but introducing blueberries, kiwi and raspberries, as well.

Chocolate ice cream.

Nothing like homemade ice cream to satisfy your craving for homemade ice cream.

Also, this is probably my favorite ice cream.

Thursday, September 9

Sushi.

Went to Ichima Sushi for lunch, one of my favorite restaurants. Ordered my favorite dish, a deep fried Philadelphia roll. 12 pieces of fried amazingness (including salmon, avocado and cream cheese). Dunk it in some soy sauce and wasabi and it's pure gold.

But it tastes better than gold.

Although, if you have gold, who cares how it tastes.

Wednesday, September 8

Rotisserie chicken.

Spice rub - Mom. Barbecue - Dad. I'll leave the description to my trusty bidnizz associate.

Lindsay - "Do you have anything to say about the chicken tonight?"
Sam - "It was tasty, and tender, and tropical, and telectable, and super t....I can't think of anything. What's another word that starts with t?! I'm trying to make something work with 'tarnish,' but that's a bad thing. What else could I say? It really TWERKED with me."

Tuesday, September 7

Breaded chicken and pasta.

Sam is here! We made panko-encrusted chicken, parmesan & herb rotini, and cucumber/tomato salad.

Lindsay - "How would you describe the dinner last night?"
Samantha - "Super! Neato! Awesome! Delicious! Fabulous! Magical! Mystical! Mysterious! And really delicious."

Monday, September 6

Jam & bread.

This is a staple in my house...because it is so delicious. Whole wheat bread, butter, strawberry jam (Mom, read: preserves).

And yes, I had it with tea. So I watched The Sound of Music the night before? So what?

Sunday, September 5

Stir-fry.

Red and green bell pepper, green onion, edamame, toasted sesame seeds and grilled chicken, mixed with capellini, tossed with an Asian-style sauce: soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, garlic, ginger, dijon mustard, sriracha, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch (for more of a glaze-like consistency). Served with cherry tomatoes. I love basically any Asian cuisine so making it in the comfort of my own home is just an added bonus.

Saturday, September 4

Turkey sandwich.

Had a fabulous Greek dinner last night but, of course, I didn't have my camera. The meal was so good that I was inspired to go Greek for my second dinner, and that's when this sandwich happened. Turkey, tomato and tzatziki on whole wheat, with fresh cracked pepper.

Have I mentioned how much I love food?

Friday, September 3

Fruit tart.

This was a test run for a tart I'm meant to make next week. Crust, pastry cream, mango, strawberry. Those were the fruits we had so that's what I used...I'll expand on that next time. Anyway, this was tasty.

Thursday, September 2

Baked fries.

Tossed with olive oil, garlic salt, kosher salt and pepper...yum. I also like doing these with parsley and parmesan.

Wednesday, September 1

Muffin.

Aunt Joy's fantastic apricot muffins! Light, fluffy, jam-filled, streusel-topped...I could eat these all day.

Tuesday, August 31

Breakfast burrito.

Auntie Joy gets an A+ in burrito making. Eggs, tater tots, cheese, salsa...basically amazing. Plus fresh fruit: cantaloupe, watermelon, banana. Really good breakfast!

Thanks for having us, Aunt Joy :)

Alternatively, another meal provided by Aunt Joy: burgers with guacamole, as well as grilled vegetables and couscous. She...is awesome.

Monday, August 30

Yaw-gurt covered pretzels.

Thank you, Mark Shimmin, for your excellent taste in roadtrip food.

Alex - "Don't give her any of your pretzels."
Mark - "Mind your own business, Alex. Are you your brother's pretzel keeper?!"

Sunday, August 29

Fruit salad.

Mango, strawberry, watermelon, mint. It doesn't get much better than that.

Saturday, August 28

Watermelon.

There are few things I like better on a hot (or cold) summer (or spring, autumn or winter) day (or night) than cold, juicy watermelon. Most of what I've had this summer has been really flavorful, too. So that's a plus.

Friday, August 27

Chili.

Hooray for Aubree and Lis! Another great get-together at their place and more delicious food. Cornbread and vegetarian chili, garnished with jalapeno.
